17 schools, colleges may lose board affiliation
0The affiliation of 17 arts higher secondary schools and colleges with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi is at the risk of cancellation after the recently announced results of higher secondary school certificate (humanities) annual examinations-2010 showed abysmal performance of their students, it emerged on Thursday.
The pass percentage of eight private and five government colleges and one private and three government higher secondary schools in the humanities exams remained zero. (more…)
Education key to economic dominance
0Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said only those nations achieve socio-economic superiority and dominance over other nations that devote their time and energy for the creation and utilisation of knowledge through education and research.
He was speaking at the launch of a book “Atom Bomb – Tasawar say haqeeqat tak” authored by pro-vice-chancellor Prof Dr Jamil Anwar on the varsity campus here on Thursday.
Dr Kamran said the creation of an atomic bomb had given rise to the possibility of annihilation of mankind from the face of earth. (more…)

17,000 students may lose academic year
0As many as 17,000 students of the government schools and colleges currently occupied by flood displaced people are likely to miss out on their academic year if IDPs are not immediately relocated to alternate shelters.
Furthermore, a majority of private schools had also turned down the district education department’s request for making available their buildings for running classes for the affected government students in second shifts, Executive District Officer (EDO), Hyderabad, Education Niaz Ahmed Laghari said Thursday.
