The Punjab government has appointed Dr Syed Aiqama as vice chancellor of the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU). A notification in this regard was issued on Saturday by Higher Education Secretary Haseeb Athar. According to the notification, Dr Aiqama has been appoint ed vice chancellor for a term of four years. The chief minister had sent the summary for appointment of Dr Aiqama as vice chancellor on June 25. Students clash at BZU leaves 10 injured

At least 10 students of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) got seriously injured when a group of their opponents, who were identified as activists of People’s Students Federation (PSF), student wing of ruling PPP, suddenly attacked them at the main gate of the varsity on Thursday evening.The injured were rushed to Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122 officials where the condition of two students is stated to be precarious. BZU without vice chancellor

No one will officiate as vice-chancellor of the Bahauddin Zakariya University on Wednesday (today) since the Punjab government has failed to appoint a new vice chancellor.
The incumbent vice chancellor relinquished his duties after a three-month extension of his tenure expired on Tuesday.
The government had given a three-month extension to outgoing vice chancellor Dr Muhammad Zaffarullah on the completion of his four-year tenure on Jan 26. (more…)
