The Bahria University, Islamabad, has been honoured with the ‘Best Library Award’ by the International Society for Science and Religion (ISSR), says a press release issued here on Friday.
The university library has been selected for the said award after having passed through a fiercely competitive peer-review process, based on present capacity, commitment to research, and study in science and religion. The BU Islamabad now stands amongst the top 150 institutions worldwide to have attained such an exalted position.
The university library is already considered one of the best fully automated libraries of the country, and the first in Pakistan to have developed Institutional repository online using DSpace software, while its librarian Hafiz Aamir Rasul is the only Ambassador for DSpace software nationwide. The 7th convocation of the Bahria University, Islamabad, was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre here on Monday, says a press release.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir was the chief guest, who conferred degrees on 553 graduating students including 188 in absentia in various disciplines including Business Management, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunication and Networking and Environmental Sciences. An amount of Rs16.5 million has been spent by the Bahria University on awarding merit and financial assistance scholarships to its students last year.
This was stated by Chief of the Naval Staff and Pro-Chancellor of the Bahria University Admiral Noman Bashir during a meeting of the Board of Governors (BOG) here on Wednesday. Members of the Board of Governors, which include principal staff officers of the Pakistan Navy and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology and Military Finance were present on the occasion.
