A scam at the Allama Iqbal Open University’s (AIOU) transport department was unearthed as its officials have been found involved in selling costly spare parts of the university’s vehicles.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was other day informed that the spare parts of 20 Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, shown as of no use in the AIOU papers, were sold in the black market.

“It is a known fact in the spare parts markets of Rawalpindi and Islamabad that AIOU too offers parts of these vehicles comparatively on cheaper rates,” an audit official told the PAC. READ MORE »

MBA/MPA entry tests at AIOU on 25th

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold entry tests for admission in Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA on October 25 in Jinnah Hall of its main campus and various other campuses in the country.

AIOU has sent call letters to all the eligible students who had applied for admission while the students who would not receive letters up to October 24 have been advised to contact the university.

Tests will be also held in Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Sahiwal and Sargodha simultaneously.

AIOU announces date for viva exams of MBA

Department of business administration, Allama Iqbal Open University has scheduled viva-voce examination of MBA programme which would be started from 11th October, 2010 in the main campus of university and will continue upto 14th october, 2010.

This was announced by Dr.Syed Hassan Raza, Chairman Department of Business Administration of the university, said a press release issued here on Friday.

The students across the country enrolled in MBA programme will participate and intimation letter have already been sent by TCS to the at their given addresses.

External experts for each specialization are invited from different universities and industries for the assessment of students. READ MORE »

AIOU launches video conferencing facility

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is planning significant technological changes to keep the students informed about assignment marks, improve e-learning facility and increase tutor-pupil interaction through video conferencing.

Video conferencing facility is being introduced in 10 districts, which would be later extended to 36 others so that the students could interact with teachers and obtain required information, said AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi, in an interview. “The university has set for itself the challenge to educate the faculty members about technology,” said Sangi. He said the university has hired 40 faculty members and announced another 41 vacancies for better drafting of interactive teaching material and assessment system. READ MORE »
