School wall collapses; 4 students injured

MULTAN: At least four students injured when a wall of a government school collapsed in Muzzafarabad area of Multan, Geo News reported.

The students of primary wing of Government Colony Textile Mill Boys High School were trapped under the debris. The rescue 1122 team retrieved them after hectic efforts and shifted them to the hospitals.

According to the school principal Jameel Bukhari, all four are under 10.

MBA Banking admissions at KU Business School

The Business School of the University of Karachi (KU) is offering admissions to MBA Banking (Morning) for the academic year 2011. A university spokesman said on Wednesday that the admission forms can be submitted up to Jan 28. The admission test would be conducted on Jan 30 at 10am at the Institute of Bankers Pakistan. Classes are scheduled to commence from Feb 19, it was further stated. app

KU admissions issue under sports quota

The Chairperson of the Department of Food and Science Technology at the University of Karachi, Dr Jehan Ara, has written a letter to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pirzada Qasim, saying that the admissions under the quota on sports has exceeded the number of seats reserved for this category.

She is yet to get a response from the VC.

The in charge of the Department of Computer Science, Badar Sami, has also sent a letter to the Director of Admissions, Dr Saleem Shahzad, reminding him that no less than 14 candidates were admitted to the department on sports quota though the sports category had a maximum of three seats. (more…)

Plagiarism Deadlines passed but HEC is still thinking

Higher Education Commission (HEC), which was aggressively following plagiarism cases, is now apparently reluctant to take action against the three scholars who are allegedly involved in such cases even after the passage of deadline.

December 30, 2010, was the deadline given to the universities by HEC to take appropriate action against the scholars whose PhD thesis are plagiarised after which HEC is supposed to blacklist these faculty members, however, nothing has been done so far.

According to the information, HEC after its meeting of plagiarism committee held on 10 November has decided to blacklist the faculty members against whom their universities are not taking appropriate action even after their proven plagiarism and repeated reminders by HEC. (more…)
