IBCC Conversion formula for O & A level revised

The 131st conference of the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) on Wednesday revised the conversion formula for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) O and A Level with effect from academic year 2010, besides agreeing in principal to give two more chances or a year to unsuccessful students at the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) level to clear their failed papers.

The IBCC – a body of the federal ministry of education whose certificates are binding and applicable across the country – in its two-day moot, which concluded on Wednesday, also deliberated upon the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) eligibility criteria of admission to medical institutions for overseas students particularly with reference to the 45 students who had been admitted to a medical university of Sindh after passing the A Level examination with mathematics, biology and chemistry in violation of the criteria set by the federal ministry of education under its scheme of studies. University teachers threaten to go on strike

Expressing serious concern over the government failure to recover Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College University Ajmal Khan even despite passage of six months since his kidnapping, the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) on Sunday threatened complete strike in the public sector universities across the country if the government failed to make serious efforts for the safe recovery of the academician.
Talking to The News after a two-day annual general body meeting of the federation that concluded at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University here, FAPUASA President Prof Dr Mahr Saeed Akhtar said it was a matter of shame for the government that no serious effort was made for the safe recovery of Ajmal Khan. PU VC for 25pc raise for TTS teachers

Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the varsity is depending upon young PhDs to further strengthen the education standard, adding he will make efforts to abolish the sanction of extra teaching on Tenure Track System (TTS) teachers.

He stated this at a meeting with TTS teachers at the varsity’s Al-Razi Hall, Undergraduate Block here on New Campus on Friday. He said he always thought for the solution of problems being faced by teachers in advance as he decided to lift the ban on extra teaching on TTS teachers on his own.

PEF result for FAS Quality Assurance Test

Feb 19: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has announced the result of 10th Quality Assurance Test of Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) programme.

A total of 1,77,365 students of 1,722 FAS partner schools in 29 districts appeared in it while the pass percentage of the schools remained 91.02.

He added that the PEF had also announced the results of 8th QAT of Education Voucher Scheme and 5th QAT of New Schools Programme. (more…)
