Karachi University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim has expelled two students from the university for attempting to kidnap some other students from the campus premises.
Taking serious notice of the incident, the VC he has expelled Noman Haider Siddiqui of Faculty of Pharmacy (Evening Programme) and Badar-ul-Hasan Hashmi of the Department of Sociology (Evening Program).
Besides, Muneer Baloch of the Department of Sociology has been debarred from the campus for allegedly torturing an employee of the Admission Cell. He will not be allowed to appear for the semester examinations and his semester record has also been sealed, a KU statement said on Sunday.
As per the university code, the details of Muneer Baloch’s case have been forwarded to the Discipline Committee, which will take further action.
“It is pertinent to mention here that the university’s Discipline Committee has taken severe action actions against those students who were found involved in any unlawful and criminal activity,” the statement said.
“It has also been decided that if any person/student will be found involved in threatening or harassing any of the academic or administrative staff by any means then severe action will immediately be taken against them.”
The statement added that strict security measures are being taken to ensure a peaceful and academic environment in the campus.
