While the BA/BSc examinations will start today (Tuesday), hundreds of students from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thronged the offices of the controller of examinations in Peshawar on Monday to get their roll number slips, but many returned empty-handed.

The Punjab government has notified annual summer vacation starting from June 1 to August 14.
EDO Education Lahore Muhammad Pervaiz Akhtar said on Monday that the notification would be applicable to the public as well as private sector schools across the province.
However, it is interesting to note that many private schools have announced examination schedule starting from June 1. The move is believed to be a deliberate effort on part of the private sector to buy more time in order to collect dues of the coming months from students’ parents. (more…)
Acknowledging the services of the National College of Arts as a premier institute of arts, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday approved renaming of the college as a chartered university and announced regularisation of its contractual employees. Registrar, University of Karachi (KU) Prof. Muhammad Kaleem Raza Khan has issued notification regarding annual convocation that is expected to be held in September 2011 and asked the prospective graduates from the semester system to get them registered for the same.
The university will confer degrees to the students who have passed Bachelors (Honours), B.S., PharmD-D, Masters and M.Pharm in the academic year 2009 and 2010. (more…)
A large number of students of the Government MAO College are in a fix as the administration has withheld their roll number slips for upcoming MA Part-I exam, pressurising them to first submit dues for yet-to-start Part-II classes.
The students condemning the decision have demanded the authorities of Higher Education Department, Punjab, intervene and provide relief to them. The students said there was no logic in collecting dues of the classes which were yet to commence, adding that the issue was badly affecting their preparations for the exams scheduled to commence from June 9, 2011. At least 10 students of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) got seriously injured when a group of their opponents, who were identified as activists of People’s Students Federation (PSF), student wing of ruling PPP, suddenly attacked them at the main gate of the varsity on Thursday evening.The injured were rushed to Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122 officials where the condition of two students is stated to be precarious.
