I rented a car back in July. Unfortunately I encountered a rock & put very minor marks on the front bumper...so minor you could hardly see them. I rang them, then took the car in for them to look at. The 2 office staff seemed surprised that I bothered but...Im honest. Both staff said the boss probably wouldnt even worry about it. They were wrong as within an hour or so they deducted the excess from my credit card. Fair enough as I did the very minor damage & I had insurance to cover that amount. Like I said, this was back in July. When I got home (still in July) I put a claim in to the insurance company with all documents required EXCEPT for the damage repair invoice that needed to be supplied by Bargain. I have asked twice for it. The insurance company has asked numerous times for it but Bargain have not come up with it. It is now December & Im still waiting. Bargain are ignoring my emails asking for the invoice. I was quite happy with the rental process, (wouldve given 5 stars) until I asked for the repair invoice. I shall never use them again when I go to Darwin.
Very poor customerservice, unfiendly staff in Darwin, Mitchellstreet. Vehicle was not ready at stated pickup time. Old and badly maintained campervans, which were sorted out by Apollo (and Apollo is known for old verhicles). Unsafe repairs or workarrouns on the vehicle. Delivered with half-empty tank and water tanks, without diesel tanks, without camping table, with only one sheet and with a heavily damaged interior. We lost the second battery (no fridge at 40 ° C) after two days and it took over a week to get in contact and find a solution for the exchange of the battery At the pickup, they charged AUS 24.00 $ refill fee for empty gas bottles, promised to pay for it, if we bring the receipts for the refill of the bottles, but never reimbursed us the cost. An email informed us at the return date, that the office will be closed at the stated return time. So the only bargain can be found in the company name. Nov 2016
Staff were nice and price was fair but everything else was quite disappointing. We arrived at the airport and were under the impression that our car would be at the airport (as no information stating otherwise was supplied). We called through twice before being told we had to wait for a shuttle bus. Once we arrived at the office, we had to wait for our car to be ready as theyd given our booking to someone else by mistake. When we received the car, it was not clean (visible dirt on the outside and trash on the inside). No issues during use of the car thankfully. But Im still waiting for the $500 bond they held from my credit card to be reserved (20 workings days later). Would not recommend.
I received appalling customer service here. I arrived in the morning and asked if I could rent a car. I was told one was not available for 2-4 hours and left my number. I was told I would be called back in that time. After waiting for the day and not receiving a call I returned to Bargain to find it closed 5 min early. I talked to the same employee I left my number with who brushed me off saying "Ive been busting my arse all day" and that the only car he had left was double the price of the one we originally discussed. I advise going across the street to Advance who gave me great customer service and a car at the price I originally discussed with Bargain.
We were very happy with the whole experience. The staff were friendly, caring and efficient. The only downside was locating the car at the Airport. This was due to a change of car location due to new Airport rules. I admit the email concerning the change was not read. We received so many emails I think we must have just thought it was another one concerning credit card details etc. Anyway, our fault but not even Airport staff could help us find the car. Obviously we did eventually. So all good. A very nice little car - perfect for us.. Thanks again.
Initial difficulty in getting the car we reserved, but quickly solved by the office and we were given a van which was easier for the five of us. The car was excellent and clean. Drop off at airport was a bit of a challenge as there are NO signs as to where to drop off and only after a desperate phone call did we find out that anywhere in short stay is ok and keys to be left in a box. Recommend bargaincarrentals, will use them again!
We were very happy with their competitive price and excellent service. We arrived at the airport, gave them a call, and they simply brought our car directly to us, handed us the key, and off we drove!!! Couldnt be simpler. Then at the end of our journey, we just parked the car in short-term parking, plonked the key in the return box (beside baggage lockers) and finished! Great system, great value, great efficiency.
I found those I dealt with to be among the best in helping you enjoy your experience of renting a car on holiday. It was great to meet people who wanted you to enjoy your stay, and were willing to go the extra mile, as they used to say, in making that possible. No nasty surprises with this firm. Ill be using them again on my future trips, thats for sure. Well done to all of you.
Our first trip to Darwin. Great car! Easy picking up the car, although you have to bring the insurance papers to the office in downtown Darwin within 24 hours of arriving. The staff were nice and helpful. The return was easy if a little unclear about where the north side of the parking lot is. Hopefully there will be a Bargain Car Rentals sign in the parking lot some day.
We purchased full insurance to lower the excess to $0. Also followed up with a phone call to check, however when we get there at midnight to sign the contract it said a single accident you had to pay $1000 excess at no time were we told about this. Also we were charged for extra kms and this was never mentioned. Apart from that great.
Friendly service. Helpful staff. Car was different to expected model but we were told this may happen. Near new vehicle. Comfortable car to travel in. It was impossible to do vehicle check for defects on pick up due to pouring rain and being late at night. Easy drop off at airport. Good communication with staff.
We booked through the Tourist Information Centre and for $90/day with a nil excess and unlimited kilometres we could not complain. The car was almost brand new, clean, tidy and economical. We will certainly be using Bargain again wherever we may travel. Easy to deal with. Definitely no complaints.
Best deal in Darwin by far , great price and very generous kilometres , the I20 we used was very clean and economical . I wpuld happily recommend Bargain Car Rentals as a great deal and the friendly and helpfull staff are a bonus .thank you for making our trip easy .
