Heres an excerpt of my review written to Avis: Avis had this upgrade scheme, where you enter a code, and get a free one class upgrade when you arrive at the counter. So I booked a smaller car than the one I actually needed. The price being around AUD200 net. Come arrival day we arrive at the Avis counter and the guy sucker punches me with a surprise: My damage waiver insurance only applies on the smaller non-upgrade car so if I wanted to have it on the upgrade car Ill need to pay more. After some discussion with my wife I felt like I had to take it. The Avis person presented the revised bill as floating around AUD300, a hefty sum but I paid anyway with my credit card. On the day we returned the car, with taxes and everything the whole rental turned out to be AUD350, a full AUD150 more than the price in the email. I feel thoroughly cheated. To spring on these last minute add-ons, and to sell insurance with an opt-out tone(rather than excluding it by default and asking whether I want it or not) are dirty tactics. Had I known Id be paying more than half the rental price for insurance(and look at the way he explained it to me! Im paying AUD30 per day instead of AUD50 Im soooooo lucky) Id just skipped Avis altogether. Youll see a copy of the Avis Insurance Scam review on Google reviews too. I intend on spreading the word.
Worst customer service. Arrived to find the lady seem beyond uninterested about being there. I knew there would be some extra fees on top of the car price but $819 for 6 days..And the fact she already took my card and charged a payment without me even seeing the car. Due to the shock of additional costs I decided not to go through and I received a receipt saying it would be back in my account within 48hours. To find the next day I have had $1184 taken out, meaning shes charged extra without telling me! Money is still not back in, have called customer service and hopefully sorted this out. Absolutely disgusting.
Service was poor. Badly organised. Could not issue receipt upon request, told me to go to avis counter inside airport -> avis counter inside airport told me to go back to pick area again for receipt. After getting knocked back and forth they told me to go online and get it myself. Went online and the reference number AVIS provided does not work. Called up Avis and their customer rep seem to be clueless and cannot find my account. A big headache - not worth the trouble. Do yourself a favor and go with another car hire company
Left garmin gps in car by mistake i cant get any satisfaction no answer on phone at perth , a week and still waiting for response the car cleaner would have found it for sure so a phone call to me would have solved the problem staffing is a major problem i got the key to the car and walked outside to find a yard full of cars and no instructions etc the car was great customer service was nil
The worst customer service. Took over an hour to get my car even though I had booked ahead days ago. Tried to make me pay more for a larger car, then didnt have an auto that I had booked. Thankfully I can drive a manual but they wouldnt give a discount. Claimed the excess was more than what was printed out in the info sheet. Seriously dodgy. Avoid!
Had a car reserved for 5am, as per opening hours. Turned up, no staff, sign behind the desk showing no attendance til 6:35. Tried calling 3 times from the provided phone, no answer. Waited till 5:30 then had to catch a cab instead. Huge waste of time and money. Use another agency.
Really bad experience... never gonna hire a car from them again. they never tell you the exact price. I was told the rent was $160 but they deducted $232. and on return there was a stone chip and they said there is $150 charge for that but they deducted $199. Very bad experience.
If I could give minus stars I would. I booked through an alternative website at a great price but noticed a month later that I had been charged DOUBLE. When I called to query it, the "help desk" was anything but. I strongly suggest you choose a different company.
Avis phone customer service is a joke, "your call is important to us you will be served by the first available agent" 10 minutes later I am still important, but I got enough to listen to their commercial brainwash. 15 minutes later I hang up. Thank you Avis
The staff on the car park were helpful. Although signing the condition report before inspecting the vehicle is a worry. They do let you revise it though, not very convenient when in a hurry.
We got a new car with only 200 driven kilometers. It was a white Holden Colorado. We were able to drive around 4000km with this car without any trouble. Thank you!
Was attended by Warren Hoy who surprised me by speaking mandarin to me. Fast paperwork and was very satisfied with the Hyundai SUV. No complain
They upgraded the car without any charge and unlimited kms. Very satisfied with their service and would love to go with them again
I got a car with a tyre kept deflating... It was a terrible experience.They dont check it well before renting it out.
