I recently took my car in with some issues, including a misfiring engine and a persistent oil leak, based on good reviews for this business. They provided me with a tidy and comfortable loan car while they worked on my vehicle. Later that day, I received a phone call telling me that the ECU had failed and needed to be replaced. They quoted me $700 for the new ECU plus labour, but when I arrived a few days later to collect the vehicle they gave me a bill for just under $1600. I was pretty shocked at the massive jump in price, which was attributed to the ECU, having replaced and re-wired components related to the ECU, including the ignition barrel, as well as fixed another issue for which they did not quote me (a crack in the coolant overflow tank). The operator told me that "we didnt realise all those parts would need to be replaced when we first quoted you". Noticing my annoyance, they wrote off the cost of the hire car for me, and told me "well fix the oil leak for you for free", so I booked in for the following week. Because of my work hours, I had to drop the car off before opening. I called them before leaving work to check it had been completed. They informed me that it was good to go and I "only had to pay $110 for the de-grease"! I asked if I could collect the car that day (after closing, due to my work commitments) and pay on Saturday when I could make it in. The said fine. Finally got there to collect my car, and it was locked in the garage! When I finally arrived the next day I had to argue the point with them that if they said "fix the oil leak for free" then I shouldnt have to pay. Finally they agreed and wrote off the $110. I asked them why they didnt leave the car for me, and they said "I didnt realise when I told you, but its not company policy". I asked why they didnt just call back and let me know, but the guy just shrugged. The work was good, but the service was terrible and they were very dishonest with me. Avoid.
never going back even considering to complain with consumer protection wa. I took my Hyundai i20 car first time for service after I bought it. Spoke with owner of the shop name Shane, he supposed to change a fuel filter at 60k service according to log book. I told him to check the car thoroughly as well because I wanted to check to see car was ok as I recently bought it. he charged me $631 for service including $225 for a second hand break calliper. After about 2500 kms car had engine light came up. Went to Hyundai dealer because car still under warranty, I got told that fuel filter was dirty and because of that injectors need to be replaced and it wont be covered under warranty because fuel filter wasnt changed so I ended up paying $899 Here is the response from this owner of Belmont auto masters when I went to see. I told me he didnt, when I explained this he said probably we didnt change the fuel filter because it is expensive and you didnt agree with the price. Then after looking around and thinking he said yes he remembered that I wasnt agree to change the fuel filter. He just kept denying about his mistake and didnt even say sorry even I had receipts and his check up report of vehicle which clearly prove him wrong. how did he remember conversation with me over the phone if he didnt recognised me at first? why did he fill the log book if work wasnt completed? as a customer he didnt apologised and say sorry one single time instead told me that I was lying
Absolutely terrible service. Had to give em 1 star because 0 isnt an option. Begin rant: they went over quote by nearly $500, didnt finish the quoted worked (didnt reseal sump) and then proceeded to charge me for it. I even supplied the parts which I didnt get back because they had been "used". So the car leaked all its oil onto my limestone driveway... When I called them th y said bring it back and well fix it for free. Did that. Get a call from them on the day saying that they wont do the work unless I pay for everything Again and that they have no record of the previous job (why tell me to come back in the first place then you idiots...). So in summary; they lied straight to my face, went over the quoted price, only did half the work (which I have paid for) , refused to offer any sort of after service and stole parts from me (Im assuming, if they didnt use it on the job where did it go??). DO NOT USE THIS WORKSHOP. Your better off just setting your money and car on fire because at the end of the day, a service from these guys amounts to the same thing.
If i could describe this place it would be 0/0 These idiots. Stole from me. Makes me pay $525. FOR WHAT. They changed my spark plugs with out notifying me. BECAUSE apparently my phone was no connected and they couldnt send messages so they said they went ahead with it. and i forked out $525. Then he tells me that my car needs new foils and everything it would be total 2-3grand. AFTER TAKING THE MONEY. useless customer service to. These people are scum of the earth. NEVER GO HERE. i repeat NEVER. I REPEAT THEY WILL RIPP YOU OFF. i mean when you walk in there look at them disgusting money stealing idiots! taking 525 for a major service then telling me itll cost 2-4 grand to fix my CAR!?!!?! IS THIS HOW MECHANICS MAKE THERE MONEY THESE DAYS. First ever car service ive ever did and This happens. Automasters? dont you mean masters at stealing from customers??? nearly entire weeks pay gone. Good riddance Auto Masters. I will Never return and tell everyone i know to stop going to auto Masters. Useless.
Would not recommend! I have been taking my car to automasters for the whole time I have owned my car and would happily say Id never go back again. Being a female I am used to having machanics try and pull the wool over my eyes when it comes to pricing and what could and needs to be done for servicing cars. However I was at first spoken to like I knew nothing and once I started questioning a few things stories started changing. Firstly my once $220 quoted was quickly turning into a $1500 service as all these things needed done desperately where as they could of been left and to top it all off once I got my car back the money sitting underneath my stereo which contained a few 10cent pieces and one 2 dollar coin the $2 had just happen to be missing after taken note of it prior to dropping my car off. Petty I know but thats my car and property and I should be getting everything back as to when I have them my car. Not happy!
I have taken my various cars to Auto Masters Belmont over the years because they did the right thing in the past but on the last occassion (Oct 2016) when Itook my daughters Suzuki AltoI felt ripped me off. They were supposed to charge me $280 for a major service but ended up charging me $400 claiming that they had fillted 3 Platinum plugs for $125. Really, platinum plugs for a Suzuki Alto that had done 40 K and does less than 5k mileage a year? If that is not blatant overcharging, I do not know what is. I am glad I did not accept their offer to change one CV joint for $550 because I took the car to another garage in Myaree for a second opinion and they said the CV joints were fine but replaced both CV boots for $260. I have written to Auto Masters about my disappointment and being overcharged but to date there has been no response. I will not be using Auto Masters, anywhere, again.
