Insufficient staff training may explain the inappropriate and aggressive behaviour to what was only a minor problem. Europcar did not have the sedan we booked on collection, which would have been ok except the hatch replacement did not have enough space to fit all four passengers and our belongings (we came for a diving trip). The staff became aggressive when we informed them of our problem. When we asked if any larger vehicles were available, we were told that there were but they could not tell us the price as there was no internet access (fair enough) and they did not have the information with them (unreasonable to not have a ballpark idea of prices for their own products, or at least the forethought to bring a pricelist, or give us the option to change cars should the price be significantly higher). Younger lady could not help from hurling insults the whole way to the carpark. Ironically, she was upset that we were tourists on holiday while she had to work. Older lady finally realised that a recently returned sedan was available but it had not undergone cleaning. We were more than happy to accept the compromise as our problem was purely a functional one. I always prefer to give positive reviews but had to give two stars here because the whole experience was embarrassing, time-consuming and upsetting. Other than that, the car worked fine. Happy to be contacted by Europcar management if they are interested in improving their customer experience.
We had to change our booking at the last minute to Airport pick up. The lady I spoke to was beyond rude (which I think is just an Exmouth thing). Picked up car with no car seats as booked - had to faff around for 40 minutes at the airport while the Europcar attendant tried to locate some & put them in ourselves. We had to chase her down three times (as she tried to leave the airport) to get seats that matched the ages wed booked for (front facing for a 2 year old and 3 year old - kept getting booster seats). She also asked us to dive back to their main office in town to change over the car seats as shed borrowed them from another car-hire company... wow.
The team were such a great help and pulled out all the stops to organise us a great deal at the last minute to help get our family back to Perth after our car engine failure. Thanks again guys, Very much appreciated!! Great service.
