greated at the door "can I help you sir" (good start) Me: im just after a bottle of the $9.95 GTX engine oil you advertised, sales person A: "its no good for that magna your driving" .. umm? I dont remember asking you if the product is compatible with my car (which it totally is) but lets move forward. Knowing full well the 20w50 GTX mineral oil is perfectly compatible with my crappy old v6 petrol guzzling magna (not only compatible its manufacturer recommended brew) whats more my Magna was actually around well before synthetic oil was available for retail consumers. "ok kids! while Im here I need a good laugh today please do educate me on oil viscosity and synthetic oil vs Mineral oil !! " for the given application Sales person A: you MUST use a synthetic oil in your magna, the 20w50 mineral oil you are thinking of buying will "BLOCK YOUR OIL JETS" and DISTROY your engine!!!!!...... sales person B: Yeah and it will also RUIN your clutch. LOL .... umm but engine oil does not go anywhere near the clutch!! even if it did my cars automatic! Sales person A: dont listen to sales person B: he "knows nothing about cars" I replied sorry but you dont know anything about cars either mate if you think "OIL JETS" will be blocked by mineral oil lol.. what are oil jets ? lol Ok heard enough nonsense at this stage, I know what I want! just make the sale for the $9.95 oil and let me go. I would not normally blog a review just because a young sales person has given me a bum steer on a set of seat covers or mats etc but when it comes to engine oil I feel you really need reliable advice (or no advice at all) using the wrong oil for your application can be and often is TERMINAL / FATAL to the cars engine! I hate to imagine what these kids would have tried to sell me had I been stupid enough to listen to their uneducated /inaccurate advice. only go to this store if you know EXACTLY what you need to buy, do not go here expecting staff to have any idea about products or your car! if you have to ask any question other than where abouts on the shelf something lives, your at the wrong store!.
I will not shop there again. Went in on the 16th December to buy a Christmas present for my husband. Did not have it in stock. Looked on their computer and said there was one already on order. I asked would it be here in time for Christmas and they said yes. So I said yes I will buy it and paid for it. Had not heard from them so called on the 22nd to see if it had arrived. It had not... Would not arrive until the 30th. Told the gentleman I was pissed off as to the fact I was assured it had been ordered earlier and it would arrive in time for Christmas. Was going to talk to management but was too upset and angry. Thought I would leave it until I calmed down. Later had a phone call from same gentleman to say he had tracked it down and that it had left Brisbane last Friday. So still no guarantee that it would arrive. Think maybe someone had told me porkies. Surprise surprise..... It didnt arrive in time for Christmas. Now I dont have anything to give my husband.... Thanks Auto Barn Moonah Tasmania.... Ill never use this place again, such a pity one person (the officious, authoritarian who plays passive/aggressive mind games)... can ruin the experience of what, not doubt, is filled with helpful employees. No doubt, anybody who has worked with, or come across this person, knows who Im talking about (Im guessing shes the regional manager by the way she carries herself), to those who are forced to deal with this person... you have my sympathies. Sometimes life throws us curve-balls, taking it out on others, is no way to conduct yourself. Take up a sport or fill your life with something important, a puppy perhaps, anything to counter the problems you may have encountered, that way youll make a far better middle-manager, being nice to people often comes back in spades.
Chose a good battery with a good long warranty. Got home before I noticed that the receipt had "no warranty" printed on it. Grumpy because the salesperson had not mentioned that my plan to use the battery in more than one vehicle might affect the warranty. He just said nothing, did not advise me at all, just printed "no warranty" on my receipt. I took the battery back for a refund, I was given the refund docket. The salesperson POINT BLANK REFUSED TO GIVE ME BACK MY ORIGINAL TAX INVOICE DOCKET. Makes it difficult to keep my tax records straight. I found the salespersons attitude disrespectful and supercilious. He actually said to me "dont make me laugh". Out loud, to a customer! I did not enjoy my shopping experience at Autobarn Moonah.
Wow, the price I was quoted was $20 more because they would have to freight the item from their own warehouse to their store. Following my last experience where we rang ahead to discuss what we needed, only to get to the store to be told they didnt have it in stock. What a joke, Ill never consider trying to shop here again. Autobarn, you only get one star because I cant submit my review with a zero star rating.
Sales staff couldnt do enough for me. Had all the time to listen to what I was after. They knew what they were on about and gave me great advice on parts and oil that I was interested in. You dont get this at other auto stores - half of them wont give you the time of day. Will def be back when I need more stuff for my car
I have used Autobarn in the past. But after Sundays experience of selling the wrong globe for my car and then saying goggle it to fit it, Today got the same response. BUT did get the right globe. Would have sent more in store but will not now. One star for globe.
I gave you a paint code for a WHITE car. You got it right the first time... But this time I ended up with CREAM paint? Really? Will be getting paint elsewhere from now on. Otherwise a good store.
