Unfriendly,unhelpful staff i was told they have checked the car before i got there and told the car is in the car park check it yourself if you have a problem run back up to us and let us know what you found all of this on a day when its pouring down with rain and the fact i asked for a staff member to go over the car with me but was told we dont have anyone available for that, only drove to the Grand Chancellor the next day to Port Arthur and back, so did not use the car much at all,when i took the car back i asked for a person to check the car over and was told we will do that later, if there is a problem we will ring you, as i had done nothing wrong off i went about 45 mins later i received a call from Budget to say they have found damage to plastic grill below the licence plate in the grill which is recessed way back on a Nissan Pulsar its a black plastic grill very hard to see, i told the unfriendly girl at the desk i didnt do that damage she told bad luck you singed you pay, no discussion at all and took over $300 out of my account, they are a disgrace to the car rental industry and should be ashamed of the way they conduct business, no repeat business from my family or friends or myself the ripple effect will one day hit you as Budget is not fair with the customer, i suggest everyone steer clear of them.
Do NOT rent a car from these scammers! Unless it is a new unblemished unused car!!!!! Funny how no one was available to check our car when we returned it from a 5 day hire on a friday afternoon; and then noticed a debit on our credit card of $2,900 within half an hour of us dropping the key off. Fortunately my partner noticed this whist checking his emails when we were still at the airport and walked back to BUDGET ( budget owned by John Netterfield stands for bullshit) and fronted the staff. They were VERY surprised he turned up...guess they usually wait until they think you have boarded your flight.....The car was bought over and he was shown a scratch he could barely see on the bummer bar. We had no altercations whilst we used the car...MY ADVICE IS TO VIDEO THE CAR BEFORE YOU RENT IT ENTIRELY.....we did not even notice this when we checked the car before renting it, although the office girl indicated there were 3 other scratch/dents on our car. We chose not to use their insurance policy and used our own which is probably another reason they targeted us!!! We have rented cars throughout America and Europe and have dealt with reputable and professional companies...BUDGET IN HOBART AIRPORT is run by crooks....shame because MONA is bringing in tourists, only to leave with a sour taste in their mouth.
Terrible experience. I will never use Budget rental at Hobart airport again. When we returned our hire car to Budget, it was checked inside and out by the budget staff member and signed off with a receipt provided to us showing the amount which will be deducted from my card. I was then charged for a cleaning bill to remove sunscreen from the car which I never did!!! I didnt even bring sunscreen with me on the trip. Very unhappy customer as we were charged for something that we did not do! No refund was provided.
The worst car rental experience I ever had. I returned the vehicle with only the damages they informed me of. But 5 hours later I was told that I damaged their door hinge, which I didnt do. Then proceeded to charge my Visa card $600 without providing sufficient details of the damage, including the quotes to fix the damage. TRULY HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I would never rent with Budget AGAIN. It ruined my experience to Hobart.
Ive been renting cars from Budget for a long time in different part of the world and generally Im very content of their services. In case of this particular rental place be advised to check your car VERY carefully and report all (even minor) scratches and windshield chips before signing contract. Just to avoid disappointment at the end of your trip around this magnificent island.
I arrived on 8 December and everything was set up as I arranged. I subsequently returned with the car on the same day as I had made the wrong selection of vehicle for what I needed. Nothing was too much trouble, I changed to another vehicle and I left a very satisfied customer. The service and the attitude of those behind the desk was great. Good start to the Tassie holiday!
Slow service. All other rental desks at the airport had at least 2 people working. Budget had 1, and a long queue. They failed to record major damage to my car, then blamed me for not telling them sooner. 15 minute wait for car seats which were meant to already be in the car. One was missing, despite confirmation it was booked.
Bogish staff. I used to be Budget client for last two years, and had no trouble at all. But things are different at this location. They really harsh oversea customers. And people should be very careful with their charges. This experience ruined my entire Tasmania trip, never ever back again.
Horrible customer experience. Staff member was the worst I have ever had the misfortune of coming across. Seemed to take enjoyment inconveniencing any customers she dealt with. Once I had the car everything was fine but wont be using budget again.
After a dismaying service at Bargain car rentals, budget was a breath of fresh air. Not only was the service impeccable I was also provided a free upgrade. Thank you for making our trip to Hobart memorable.
Perfect service for me. We were given a free upgrade from a small car to an SUV and very thankful for it given the driving we did. Car was fantastic too. We had the Nissan X-Trail (new model).
Very slow service - the dude was in training.. Provide more training then let the loose on the public.
