I booked a Avis vehicle in advance via jetstar for a trip to Tasmania with my parents. Only when we reached Tasmania airport did Avis informed me that they do not accept booking from a provisional driver. While it maybe known among people who had experience in car rental, it is something completely new to me. It was very disappointing and I was left with no choice but to make a last minute booking at the spot at another company which costed a lot. I do hope that Avis can make it CLEARER to people that Avis do not take bookings from provisional drivers, because I would have totally changed my plan should I know this in advance. On the up side, the staff was quite friendly at the airport.
Found the service to be excellent. The trainee front office staff member was terrific. Despite a number of people needing assistance, she gave everyone the same professional attention and apologised for the delay when serving me. She explained every step of the process and was clearly very good with people. At the vehicle Steve was excellent and even offered directions to Hobart and recommended accomodation. Would I use them again, most definitely. Just goes to show, its not the cars buildings or equipment that makes the service, its the people! Thanks Avis - Scott, ClearFresh Water.
Booked a vehicle over phone for $64. Went to airport and lady at counter suggested remove excess and cost would be $80. I said for $16 bucks why not. Rushed me through the signing saying hit continue, hit continue again etc. Ended up charging my card $144. After I realised that they over charged they said too late you have already signed. Misleading practices
they are friendly when you talk in person but their phone service is sucks. they made hold the phone for half an hour and transfer me to many people and the last person just hang up the phone.. I still havent solve the issue and they dont seem that they care much about customers satisfaction!! never call them..

Dropped the car back to the airport before time and was charged for extra 3 hours saying that i got the car late... Spoke to their headoffice clearly showing them my flight ticket timings ..still no response from their end... So guys make sure to get the paper works right and dont get conned.....
Would NOT RECCOMMEND TO HIRE FROM Avis AIRPORT!!! 1. STAFF- ASHLEE at front desk and Jonathan in carpark are incompetent 2. QUALITY- Rental car is below average 3. CUSTOMER CARE- they provide none at all. Please do not hire through Avis, save yourself the trouble!!!!!!

The lady at the counter is the best. She helped us through the rental agreement and suggested us places to visit and restaurants. Friendly staff.
Terrible experience with avis, charge me $120 more without anyone telling me why!!!! Worst car rental ever, no recommend, do not use avis.
