My partner and I bought a brand new car from Barramundi Group almost two years ago, a Kia. Its a great car, but in all honesty, our salesperson outright lied to our faces, twice. I would give the mans name, but I will hold off. 1 - Our salesperson told us that he could guarantee a minimum of two thousand dollars on my partners car for trade in value, regardless of the faults that he knew of. In the end, they told us they could only give us one hundred dollars (the car had issues with radiator and air conditioning, which our salesperson knew of, but being told he could "guarantee" that to us? Full of it). This information was given to us after we had signed all the paperwork and contracts. When we confronted our salesperson about this, he essentially turned into a broken record, repeating over and over "Well, youre getting a great, brand new car". No apology, no reasoning, just set to repeat. 2 - We were told by the same salesperson that when we bring our car in for a service, we would receive a loan vehicle. A friend of mine bought a car from Hyundai recently and she has received loan vehicles when putting her car in for servicing, which is great. When we bought our car in for a service, we discovered that this isnt true, the consultant told us that we could hire a car from them, or take the courtesy shuttle bus. The consultant then told us that hiring a car from elsewhere (Thrifty Rentals) would actually be cheaper than hiring a car from them. Lied to by our salesperson on two separate occasions, all so he could secure the sale. We signed the paper work and contracts because we were not only buying a good new car, but he promised us two things that sweetened the deal, and they turned out to be lies. Weve also had an issue recently involving the cars jack. A few weeks ago, our car had a flight tire. I used the jack and tools provided, removed the flat tire, began to put on the new. The jack broke on me. Luckily, I was not injured. I went into the nearby service station, borrowed a jack from them and was able to complete the tire change. When we bought our car in for a recent service, we bought in the broken jack and showed the consultant. The "gentleman" behind the services counter had a good chuckle when he heard/saw our predicament. After I said to him "Im glad you find this funny", he quickly fell quiet. My partner and I found that incredibly rude. There are truthfully some good, hardworking people at Barramundi Group. Unfortunately, there are also people there who tarnish their name and reputation, with their lies and inconsideration. These people can be described as "snakes".
Went to test drive a lightly used car here. Was very happy with it and the salesman (the guy originally from WA) so went inside and talked numbers. They offered me a trade-in price of $20k, when the cheapest price Ive seen on carsales this year was around $38k. Said to the salesman Im not taking that, thats ridiculous. Salesman said his sales manager gave this price so he will go speak to him. Sales manager comes out (the overweight one with a scruffy beard, untucked shirt and food stains on his shirt, nice professional look) and explains that my car needs rego soon and that two panels had marks that would need to be resprayed. Said I understood that you guys need to make money off my car, but $18k less than the cheapest one Ive seen this year is crazy. He wouldnt budge, so I went to inspect the car I was looking to buy again. Came back in and told him, I will offer you 18k less for the car youre selling. Based on your prices, this car will also need rego when you sell it to me, and there are also two panels which has marks on it. Sales manager said that a respray of two panels and rego will cost $4k max. So I replied with "So you said 15 minutes ago you had to knock off $18k off my car for rego and two panels to be resprayed. Now youve admitted it would cost $4k max?" Sales manager didnt know what to say and just got up and walked back to his office. Thanked the salesman for his time and said hes great, but that his sales manager is an idiot. Heard the same sales manager pulls the same thing on everyone I know thats tried to trade their car in. They are dealers for VW, Kia and Great Wall. They are also the dealers for Skoda and Fiat but they dont stock the cars, you just order through them. Only know this because I went with my cousin to check out a Skoda Superb with them and was told they only order them in. Asked how are we supposed to know if we like the car without seeing it in person or a test drive, the saleswoman said to just test drive a Kia Optima, because they are the same price and new cars are all very similar. All I can say again is how much of a joke Barramundi Group in Darwin is.
We would highly recommend Barramundi Motors as this is our second car we have purchased from them in just over 3 years. their sales staff treated us with respect & were very knowledgeable in the vehicles we bought. We would also like to thank the Service Department, as on the numerous occasions that we have gone there .. be it for an enquiry or for a service on our cars ... we have been treat too outstanding service by very polite & knowledgeable staff who have gone above & beyond at times to accommodate our needs. We would also like to thank the Finance Department in their efforts in helping us obtain our new car as well as arranging our insurance renewal ... what a relief that was.. Finally we would like to thank the people in the Pre Delivery section .. who presented our new car in outstanding condition .... Thank You Barramundi Motors for your excellent sales & service. We would highly recommend anyone in the Darwin area that is looking at purchasing a car ..be it New OR secondhand give Barramundi Motors your time ... you may be pleasantly surprised We are moving back to South Australia on the 21st May 7 will be having our Tunland serviced a final time before we head back to S.A. & would appreciate the supplying of the Foton Dealers in S.A. & hopefully lucky enough to get one as good as you Guys & Girls
Darwin Barramundi Group, specifically the Volkswagen department, has an outstanding professional team. My special mention and thank you to Michael Wood for his absolutely fantastic assistance to provide us with information we needed to select the first car for our 16 year old son. Michael possesses not only great product knowledge but also has the ability to successfully convey his knowledge and connect well the customer. His technical expertise and leadership are great assets to the Barramundi Group. Also a big thank you to Sonia Satsangi for her knowledge and friendly and flexible assistance to accommodate my sons many test drive sessions. My son and I have visited all major car dealerships in Darwin to test drive about six different cars, and we are both of the view that the Volkswagen team represents the essence of excellence service and standard. My son has expressed his view that "Michael would be great to conduct a course on how to be the best car dealer, and Michael represents the epitome of what a car dealer should be from product knowledge to customer connection, dress code and keeping promises and also...being persistent in a professional manner". We are very happy with our purchase of the Golf and will certainly consider our next purchase with Michael Woods team.
