I dont know what kmart tyre and auto is like in the rest of canberra but i know the one in gungahlin is ran by incompetent amateurs who either dont know or care about their job. Ive had 2 bad experiences with these guys, the first time i left my car in to get 2 new front tyres, after booking in my details they told me to go grab a coffee up stairs and they would call me with a quote inside 15-20 minutes. Roughly an hour went past without hearing from them so i went down and back into the office where i explained my situation. The guy apologized and tried to say the person who booked my car in had gone home sick and hadnt told anyone about my car however i saw the same guy standing in another room and pointed this out to the embarassment of the person who had just lied to me. Anyway they finally got to work on my car and it was ready about 90 minutes later so it took them 2 and a half hours to change just 2 tyres. Just today against my better judgement i went back to kmart tyres and auto gungahlin with a flat wheel which needed patching, i left it in at 11.45am and was told come back before 4 o clock and itll be ready which seemed a bit excessive seeing as it was only one one tyre which i had already taken off, anyway i came back at 3.45 and entered into the office where the same guy who i dealt with earlier looked at me with shock when i asked was my tyre ready, the way i read it and i could be wrong was that he had completely forgotten to tell the workers to have it fixed, he then asked would i come back in 20 minutes, i declined his offer as id rather not have such incompetent people working anywhere near my car. Took my tyre to bob jane the next day and it was ready in less than half an hour. Moral of the story is dont go kmart tyre and auto and if you really have to then just make sure its not the one in gungahlin.
I took my car in to have the air conditioning looked at. I was told that there was an issue and the fan motor had to be replaced costing over $700 to get a part in locally (second hand I presume) and over $1K to order the part in from overseas, I went with the local option to source the part. My car sat in their garage for 5 days before they rang me and informed that the air conditioning sub-contractor didnt show up to do the job. Anyway - disappointed I booked my car in at Lee & Thomas auto electrical in Phillip. Within an hour they had found the problem. There was nothing wrong with the fan motor at all and it didnt need to be replaced. (I thought the need for a replacement was a little suspicious as I had only replaced the part less than two years ago). They simply cleaned it up, removed some corrosion and the air conditioning worked like new. In the end it cost me less than $200. Ill never trust my car there again - at least for the air conditioning. Since then Ive heard other horror stories, not necessarily about the Gungahlin shop but other Kmart Auto services in the ACT. They did give me a discount on a service to make up for the stuff around but the whole shows pretty unprofessional in my opinion.
Dodgy work in simple words; I told Scott (Store Manager-Gungahlin) that while pressing BMW car brakes (even very hard), the car still moving can he fix the problem. He advised its not Vacuum or booster problem….problem is in brake oil and rear brakes. I confirmed with him again is he sure. Rear brakes and oil got changed. BUT PROBLEM REMAINS SAME. WHEN PRESSING BRAKES HARD TO STOP, CAR STILL MOVING. While picking car, I asked him did he had a test drive to check all is good. Answer was NO. Made his money ($713.70) but left a note in Tax invoice that brake booster possible failure and need to be fixed. This is very unprofessional and embracing.
I had my car service done with Gungahlin K-mart for 3 years. But the experience in October 2016 made me will never go back .Dodge cost， rude customer service. I spent $900 and my husband spent $1100，both of us were told by Scott that we must change 2 new tyres. And they did not message me for picking up car. I spent 4 hours inside and outside the shopping centre with an one year old toddler in Winter. Finally，I went there saw my car was already ready. Today，we went to Belconnen westfield K-Mart for service，they are great.
Dont trust them when they say they can service any car. I had my Peugeot serviced there in May, they incorrectly fitted the battery causing numerous issues with the cars computer. They also failed to replace the air in take valve when putting the new battery in causing engine warnings to come up. I spent a lot of money there and ended up taking it to someone who knew what were doing. Wouldnt recommend them to service a push bike
didnt have any work carried out. had a service at the dealer and was told needed to have all four wheels replaced, i took it past KMART and asked if they could look at them, told them that at the service i was told i needed four wheels, the manager came and looked at my tyres. he said that they dont need to be done yet and showed me ho to check the wheels. i will be going to only KMART from now on
Wow compared with the neg reviews below i had a totally opposite experience. Instead of just writing a review just because i had a negative experience i thought i would write a review because i had a very positive experience. Scott and his team were kind, helpful and kept my wife and I up to date on the progress of our car in service. Work was done as stated and I totally recommend this service.
After we took our car for service to this place, the car started making noises when reversing and turning. We took back the car straight away, they said that a rock must have got stuck into a tyre and do not worry. The noise continued and even got worse. We took the car to a different service (not k-mart auto), they found a problem. Our car was better before the service at K-mart auto.
A big shout out to Scott and the Team of Kmart Tyre & and Auto Service Gungahlin for looking at my partners car today that was showing signs of falling apart. Turned out to be the chunky floor mat fowling the clutch operation. Service with a smile and a true gentlman. Completely restored my faith in the auto industry when dealing with chicks.
my partner took our car in with a few issues, scott took her through all the repair options and cost. he was up front and honest about all the work that was required. i had called him back to speak about the quote. which he then took the time to take me through step by step and what could be put off till a later date.
very dodgy service. I took my BMW for a general service. They put wrong engine oil in, I have to re-do it in the next day in another workshop. Scott (their store manager) doesnt admin the mistake. It took me a month to get refund through Fair Trading.
