The affiliation of 17 arts higher secondary schools and colleges with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi is at the risk of cancellation after the recently announced results of higher secondary school certificate (humanities) annual examinations-2010 showed abysmal performance of their students, it emerged on Thursday.
The pass percentage of eight private and five government colleges and one private and three government higher secondary schools in the humanities exams remained zero.
Sources in the BIEK told Dawn that the heads of all educational institutions whose pass percentage in the HSSC (Part-II) annual examinations remained below 20 would shortly be served show-cause notices seeking explanation for the poor performance.
The sources said that if the principals failed to give a satisfactory response, their college affiliation with the board would be either suspended or cancelled.
However, they made it clear that the institutions which failed to perform well in both 2009 and 2010 annual exams would certainly loose their affiliation with the board.
